Davies Bakery
Challenge
Davies Bakery, one of the largest independent bakers in Australia, wanted to expand its manufacturing and distribution capacity with a new, state-of-the-art facility in Broadmeadows, Victoria. The factory that Rodine Australia was asked to design and construct has an impressive scale, at 5000 m2 of floorspace. In addition to this, the site also features extensive truck bays to manage the company’s freight needs.
Build
The project had a timeframe of only 5 months, including 4 months for construction. Coordinating the pouring of significant volumes of concrete over winter, on 3 to 4 day rotation, was one of the largest challenges. Once structural work was completed, Rodine supported the installation of plant and equipment (over 50 shipping containers’ worth) with the necessary services.
Safety
Davies Bakery’s high standards of safety warranted Rodine’s strong attention to detail, for example by constructing concrete truck bays to a very high specification to sustain the freight volumes anticipated on the site.
