Medical One
Challenge
Rodine was asked to transform a ten pin bowling centre into a substantial new medical facility within the Victoria Gardens shopping centre, complete with ambulance bay and specialised medical lift.
Build
Rodine’s works included structural building and services over a 20-week programme. The first stage of this programme involved structural works, undertaken at night to manage noise and dust for neighbouring premises. During this stage, the lift shaft had to be cut into the building. The second stage involved installing services alongside the contractors responsible for the fit-out.
Innovation
To preserve its structural integrity, sewage services could not be readily connected through the slab in a conventional gravity system. As an alternative, Rodine successfully installed a vacuum system to direct wastewater through the ceiling. This not only avoided costly structural works, it also enhanced the facility’s water efficiency.
